Wandering Free was founded in 2014 as an adventure travel specialist promoting international responsible travel holidays to South Africans.  The company has now expanded to a team of 5 and has been appointed as the exclusive General Sales Agent for Exodus Travels in South Africa.  Exodus forms part of the international PEAK Adventure Travel Group LTD, the largest adventure travel corporation in the world.  The company has been pioneering adventure travel for over 40 years and offers a product range of inspirational small group adventures to destinations on all 7 continents around the world.  They are also a fully licenced and bonded tour operator holding an ATOL licence issued by the Civil Aviation Authority.

Locally Wandering Free has partnered with Tourvest Travel Services, one of South Africa’s largest listed travel companies, that is best known for brands such as Seekers Travel, American Express Travel, Welcome Tourism Services and the brand.  Tourvest Travel Services is Wandering Free’s official broking partner and is both ASATA and IATA registered.  Wandering Free is also the pioneer of Geek themed tours in South Africa and has been appointed as the official travel partner for the GeekXP group.

Proud Owner, Sarah Whiteside, holds a Bcom in Marketing and Management as well as Diploma in Travel and Tourism and has over 14 years of experience in the travel industry where she has held senior and management roles in the retail, wholesale and airline sectors of the industry.  Sarah has visited over 30 countries, is an avid hiker and is passionate about responsible travel principals.  Sarah is also a freelance writer and radio producer.

Media and Information Technology Director Warren Robertson, holds a BA, an Honour’s degree in English Literature and a Post Graduate Diploma in Media and Journalism from WITS University.  Warren has worked as a journalist for more than a decade, is a professional comedian, and has hosted a number of comedy and travel related radio shows in South Africa.  Warren is also an enthusiastic road and mountain biker.

KZN Sales and Marketing Manager, Barbara Herridge, has over 20 years of experience in the aviation industry and has started and managed Durban based airline offices in the past.  Barbara has travelled around the world and is a passionate and active Rotarian in Durban.  Wandering Free’s Responsible Travel Principals make the company a good personal fit for Barbara.

Pretoria based Sales and Marketing Manager, Chadette Botha, holds an Honours degree in Tourism Management and has a number of years experience in the airline, operator and agent sectors of the industry.  Chadette is passionate about travelling, decor, marketing and adventure sports.

John Whiteside was rudely dragged out of a peaceful retirement by his daughter Sarah and now manages the company books part time.
